I was one of the thousands of people who spent yesterday’s lunch hour in my office watching Tiffany’s first Google Hangout. I decided to RSVP because I was excited to hear what Tiffany’s new design director, Francesca Amfitheatrof, had to say about the Tiffany T Collection and the brand overall.
Model Coco Rocha moderated the hangout and was joined by Anne Slowey of Elle Magazine and Aimee Song of Song of Style. One of the statements Amfitheatrof made that stood out to me was the following; “Tiffany T has no age and no geography.” For a global brand I think this is necessary. You want a collection that appeals to all nationalities and all age brackets. Modern, unapologetic and simplistic have been some of the words used to describe the collection and I think that is spot one. These pieces can be layered or worn alone, they can even be mixed with other collections. Something that kept coming up during the hangout was the desire to have simple jewelry because women these days are busy and always in a hurry, they don’t want to have to pack for a business trip with various pieces of jewelry. Tiffany T can work with just about any outfit.
Personally, I think Tiffany hit a homerun and I hope they host similar Google Hangouts in the future. It was worthy of my lunch break.
